My name is Varvara Karanchuk. I am 16 years old and I was born on March 23, 2010, in Brest, Belarus. At the age of 13, I moved to Minsk to pursue my tennis training.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian, which is my native language, and I am continuously improving my English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
I am the only one who plays tennis in my family. My brother tried tennis, but he did not enjoy it.
In which tennis club do you train?
I have been training at The Republican Center of Olympic Training for Tennis for the past three years.
What is your coaching team?
My head coach is Korenets Denis and my fitness coach is Chepelin Vladimir. In addition to training with them, I also take part in extra practice sessions and sparring matches.
What is your weekly training routine?
My training schedule is almost the same every week. I usually start the day with a group tennis practice, followed by either a fitness session or a one-on-one practice with my head coach. In the afternoon or evening, I have another group practice or a sparring session. Tennis practices usually last one and a half hours, while fitness sessions last one hour. I train six days a week.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I think my greatest strengths are my shots, especially my serve and forehand. The area I need to improve the most is the mental side of my game.
What is your age category and ranking?
As a player born in 2010, I have recently started competing in U18 tournaments. I am currently ranked No. 22 in the Belarus U18 national rankings and No. 17 in the U16 rankings. My highest Tennis Europe ranking was No. 356. My current UTR ratings are 7.34 in singles and 7.13 in doubles.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my best results include several doubles semifinals and singles quarterfinals in Tennis Europe tournaments, as well as reaching the doubles semifinal and singles quarterfinal of the Belarus National Championship.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played Tennis Europe and ITF tournaments in Poland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, and Bulgaria.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, I do not currently have any sponsors, but I would really like to find some in the future.
What is your goal for 2026?
I have a few main goals for the end of 2026. One of them is to improve the quality of my game enough to start competing in WTA tournaments. Another goal is to perform well in my exams and earn a place on a college tennis team in the United States.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to compete on the WTA Tour and win a Grand Slam one day.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would definitely like to meet Aryna Sabalenka. I really admire her life story and everything she has achieved.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I really enjoy spending time with my friends and reading books.
