My name is Rashmi Omaya Wijewardana. I am 17 years old, born on April 10, 2010. I am Sri Lankan and currently reside in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Sinhala.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 6 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the first competitive tennis player in my family.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train primarily in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and represent Alfateh Club in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches include Meshal Sinnen, my father Imesh Wijewardana, and other coaches who have supported my development throughout my tennis journey.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 5–6 days a week, combining on-court tennis sessions, match play, fitness training, strength and conditioning, agility work, and recovery sessions. My schedule is designed to prepare me for international ITF competition.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are my determination, fighting spirit, and ability to compete under pressure. I am constantly working to improve my consistency, physical strength, and tactical decision-making during matches.
What is your age category and ranking?
I compete on the ITF Junior Circuit (U18). I am currently ranked among the Top 4 women players in Saudi Arabia and among the Top 5 Sri Lankan girls competing internationally. My highest Saudi Women’s ranking is No. 3, while my highest Sri Lanka U18 ranking is No. 8 and is expected to rise to No. 3. My highest ITF Junior ranking so far is No. 2100.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my biggest achievements include winning the 2025 Saudi Women’s Yonex Open, finishing third at the first National Ranking Tournament of the Saudi Women’s Tennis Premier League, being selected for the WTA Future Stars Program in conjunction with the WTA Finals Riyadh in both 2025 and 2026, reaching multiple ITF Junior World Tennis Tour finals, and becoming one of the few female athletes sponsored by Yonex Saudi Arabia under its Elite Athlete Category.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates, and I look forward to competing in many more countries in the future.

What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to continue improving my ITF ranking, break into the Top 500 juniors, win more international titles, and inspire young female tennis players in Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to compete on the WTA Tour, play in all four Grand Slam tournaments, and inspire young athletes from Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia to pursue their dreams.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would most like to meet Coco Gauff because of her powerful game, competitive mindset, and determination. I admire the way she fights for every point and handles pressure on the biggest stages.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing guitar, singing, traveling, and following professional tennis.
