ποΈ Darya Naumik | Interview, July 2026
Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of Birth, Nationality, City of Residence
My name is Darya Naumik. I am 11 years old and I was born on January 29, 2015, in Belarus. I live in Minsk.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian and Belarusian, and I am working hard to improve my English because I love meeting people from different countries through tennis.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was just three years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
I am the only tennis player in my family, but everyone supports me and believes in my dream.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the Tennis in Solnechnyy Academy, just outside Minsk. It is a wonderful place surrounded by beautiful nature, where talented coaches help young players grow both on and off the court.
What is your coaching team?
My coach is Nikolai Fidirko. He is a very special person because he knows exactly when to be demanding and when to make us laugh. He has a great sense of humor, so every practice is enjoyable, challenging, and the time always flies by.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train six days a week. My schedule includes group practices, private tennis lessons, fitness training five times a week, and stretching once a week. Each training session lasts about two and a half hours.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
One of my biggest strengths is staying calm under pressure. Even in difficult moments during a match, I try to stay focused and believe in myself. I would like to develop a stronger serve and add even more variety to my game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Under-12 age category. I am currently ranked No. 10 in Belarus, and among girls born in 2015, I am ranked No. 1.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of the happiest moments of my tennis journey was winning third place at the Smrikva Bowl in Croatia in 2025, one of the worldβs most famous tournaments for players under 10. Another achievement I am proud of is reaching the doubles final at the 2026 Belarus National Championships.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in tournaments in Belarus, Croatia, and Estonia. I hope this is only the beginning, and I am excited to play in many more countries in the future.
Do you have any sponsors?
At the moment, I do not have any sponsors. I hope that one day I will find partners who believe in me and would like to be part of my tennis journey.
What is your goal for 2026?
My biggest goal for 2026 is to become the Belarus National Winter Champion in singles.
What is your tennis dream?
One of my biggest dreams is to win Roland-Garros before I turn 20. More than anything, I want to become the very best version of myself as both a tennis player and a person, and inspire young athletes to believe that dreams can come true if they work for them.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
If I could meet one tennis player, it would definitely be Novak Djokovic. I admire his sense of humor, optimism, incredible mental strength, and the respect he shows to people around him. He dreamed big as a child and never stopped believing in those dreams, which inspires me a lot.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Away from tennis, I love being creative. I enjoy drawing, making figures from clay and modeling dough, creating beaded bracelets, knitting, and making diamond paintings. These hobbies help me relax, recharge, and return to the court with fresh energy.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family because their smiles make me feel stronger and happier every day. I would also like to thank everyone who has been part of my tennis journey, including my first coach Igor Mashnitski, coaches Natalia Zhuravleva, Zhanna Gorbatkina, Irina Protasenya, and my current coach Nikolai Fidirko.
