What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Marcus Ketting. I am 11 years old and I was born in May 2015. I am Dutch and I live in The Hague, the Netherlands.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Dutch, English, and Mandarin Chinese.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was six years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my sister Isabel, dad, grandparents, uncles, and cousin all play tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
I currently train at JS Tennis & Coaching and at Thor de Bataaf Tennis Club.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are from JS Tennis & Coaching, and I also train privately with other coaches.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my serve, volleys, and forehand. I also have a good feel for the ball and stay mentally strong on court.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I only started competing in the U12 age category at the beginning of 2026, and my current national ranking is No. 100.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my most memorable tennis experiences was being a mascot at the 2024 ABN AMRO Open final, where I walked onto Centre Court with Alex de Minaur before his final against Jannik Sinner. As a player, one of my best achievements so far is reaching my first Junior Tour Brons singles final at REVAPOINT in 2026. I also finished third in my age category at the 2026 PJK Zuid-Holland.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in both the Netherlands and Taiwan.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet, but I am always open to partnering with sponsors who believe in my journey and want to grow with me.
What is your next goal?
My goal for next year is to win a Junior Tour Gold tournament.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become the No. 1 tennis player in the world.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Carlos Alcaraz. I really like the way he plays, and I dream of being as good as him one day.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Besides tennis, I enjoy watching good movies, playing with friends, snowboarding, and traveling.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my mom because she always believes in me and supports me 100%.
