What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Emmanuel Mathew Benu. I was born on September 18, 2009, in Australia, and I live in Carseldine, Brisbane.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Malayalam, as my ethnicity is South Indian.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 10.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
There were no tennis players in my family, but my dad and I started at the same time. He now does part-time coaching and has coached me from the very beginning.
In which tennis program do you train?
I train at Brisbane Boys College.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are my dad, along with John Millman and Ethan Wilkinson, who runs the squad. Also Heath Denman, my coach at the squads at Ipswich Grammar and my mental coach Ian Anderson who coaches at Newton Heath Energy Arena.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My favorite shot, and what I think is my strength, is my off forehand. I think I need to improve my decision-making in matches as well as my defensive skills.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the 16 and Under category, and I am ranked No. 45 in the country.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest successes so far have been winning 3K open tournaments on grass and hard courts, reaching the 25K consolation singles final, and earning my sponsorship with Solinco, which is very exciting.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in Australia.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I am sponsored by Solinco, and I use Solinco Whiteout V2 rackets with Hyper-G strings. I wear New Balance and ASICS shoes, and I love wearing Solinco and Nike clothing.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to win a few open men’s tournaments in Australia and also get into ITF tournaments and do well at that level of competition.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become a professional tennis player and reach the ATP Top 10 in the next decade. I also aspire to play in Grand Slams, both as a junior and in the men’s game.
Who is your favorite player and why?
Arthur Fils is my favorite player because he is very aggressive, intense, and competitive. I want to apply that aspect to my game as well.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love spending time with my family, including my dad, mum, and sister. I enjoy spotting supercars, and I love going to church.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my dad and all the people who helped me get to where I am.
