Luis Guto Miguel Chasing Another Grand Slam Title
Luis Guto Miguel has established himself as one of the leading players of his generation.

In the quarterfinals, Miguel faced 2026 Wimbledon junior champion Jordan Lee. The Brazilian survived an extraordinary deciding-set tiebreak, saving three match points before eventually winning 13-11 in the breaker.
Miguel then produced a more controlled performance in the semifinals, defeating No. 7 seed Thilo Behrmann of Austria 6-4, 6-4 to reach his second Junior Grand Slam singles final of the season.
Now, the Brazilian is one victory away from adding the US Open trophy to his Roland Garros title.
Marcel Latak: The Surprise American Finalist
Marcel Latak has been one of the biggest revelations of the 2026 US Open Junior Championships.
The American entered the tournament unseeded and without the expectations surrounding many of the leading players in the draw.
But his performances in New York have changed that.
Latak, the 2025 USTA National Championship Boys’ 16s winner, earned his place in the US Open junior draw after winning a warm-up tournament in Canada.
He immediately showed his potential by defeating No. 6 seed Ziga Sesko in the opening round.
His impressive run continued with victories over No. 10 seed Dimitar Kisimov and fellow American Keaton Hance.
Latak then produced his biggest result of the tournament in the semifinals.
Facing No. 2 seed Jamie Mackenzie of Germany, the American hit 17 winners, including six aces, and committed only eight unforced errors on his way to a 6-3, 7-6(2) victory.
The result sends Latak into his first Junior Grand Slam singles final.

There will also be a significant home advantage for the American, who is attempting to become the first US player to reach — and potentially win — the boys’ singles championship in New York since Learner Tien reached the final in 2023.
Marcel Latak Is Also Chasing the Doubles Title
Latak’s US Open run is even more impressive because singles is not his only opportunity to become a champion.
The American has also reached the boys’ doubles final alongside Tanishk Konduri.
They defeated Safir Azam and Damir Zhalgasbay 6-3, 6-7(6), [10-5] in the semifinals and will face Aaron Gabet and Valentin Gonzalez-Galino for the title.
Latak therefore enters the final day of the Junior Championships with the possibility of completing a remarkable singles and doubles double.
Can Luis Guto Miguel Add the US Open to Roland Garros?
For Miguel, the objective is clear.
After becoming a Grand Slam champion at Roland Garros, winning the US Open would confirm his position at the top of boys’ junior tennis and give him two Junior Grand Slam singles titles in the same season.
For Latak, the stakes are very different.
A player who entered the tournament unseeded now finds himself one match away from becoming a US Open Junior champion in front of his home crowd.
