๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Andres Escobar Delgado | Interview, June 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of birth, Nationality, City of residence
My name is Andres Escobar Delgado. I am 15 years old, born on May 23, 2011. I am Spanish and I live in Madrid, Spain.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 8 as an after-school activity. At 12, I decided tennis was my sport and began taking it more seriously with the help of my father.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
There are no professional tennis players in my family, but tennis has become a family project. My family supports me with training, tournaments, travel, studies, and planning.
What tennis club do you train at?
I do not train in one fixed club or academy. I train in Madrid with my own team, building my tennis path in a more independent way.
Who is your training team?
My main coach is Pablo Cabello. He is also my physical trainer and helps me improve as a player and as a person. My family is also a key part of my team because they help me manage the whole project: tennis, school, planning, travel, and future goals.
What is your weekly training routine?
My weekly routine combines tennis, physical preparation, school, recovery, and mental training. I train on court several days per week, working on patterns, serve, return, point construction, and match situations. I also do physical training for speed, strength, agility, endurance, and injury prevention.
What is your biggest strength as a player and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my forehand, my rhythm from the baseline, and my competitive mentality. I like to build points with heavy balls, control, and smart aggression. I need to improve my second serve, my return against second serves, and my ability to close points when I already have the advantage.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the U16 / Cadete category, but I am also starting to compete in the junior category against players up to 18 years old. My current competitive level is around UTR 8.4โ€“8.5, and my goal for 2026 is to reach approximately UTR 8.9-9.3.
What have been your biggest achievements so far?
One of my biggest achievements was reaching around No. 70 nationally in Spain according to the UTR ranking. Right now, in the U16 category, I am around No. 286, and one of my goals is to reach the Top 100 in this UTR ranking. I have also reached two finals and one semifinal at regional level in Madrid, as well as one semifinal and one quarterfinal at national championship level.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have mainly competed in Spain. In the next stage, I would like to gain more international experience and prepare for my long-term goal of studying and competing in the United States.
Do you have sponsors?
At the moment, I do not have an official sponsor.
What is your goal for 2026?
My main goal for 2026 is to reach around UTR 8.9โ€“9.3. I also want to improve my second serve, become more aggressive on the return, compete better against older players, and become stronger in pressure moments.
What is your dream in tennis?
My dream is to reach my maximum level in the sport I love. I want tennis to help me grow as an athlete, as a student, and as a person.
Which player would you like to meet most and why?
I would like to meet Novak Djokovic, not only because of his tennis level, but because of his mentality and professionalism. I would like to ask him how he manages pressure, routines, difficult moments, and motivation over many years.
What do you like to do outside tennis?
Outside tennis, I like spending time with my family and friends, watching sports, listening to music, learning about technology, watching series on HBO and Netflix, playing Brawl Stars, and playing chess. I also enjoy watching videos of Challenger-level players to learn from the way they build points.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family and to my coach Pablo Cabello. My family supports me every day, not only in the good moments. Pablo is more than a coach; he helps me grow as a player and as a person during a very important stage of my life.
