What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Yana Akhmatova. I was born on August 10, 2009 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I am Russian and I live in Moscow, Russia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian and a little English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was five years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my older sister Milana Akhmatova also plays tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Moscow Tennis Academy, Spartak Department.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are E.B. Kulikovskaya, M.E. Gaverova, and M.S. Kanakov. My physical training coach is O.L. Vaxeev.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my active, combinational, and varied tennis. I need to strengthen the psychological side of my game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Under-19 category and I am ranked No. 22 in Russia.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
So far, my greatest successes have come at Russian Tour tournaments, where I have achieved prize-winning places.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have played tournaments only in Russia.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, I do not have any sponsors yet, but we are actively looking for sponsors to help me participate in international tournaments.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to enter the Top 10 in Russia in the Under-19 category.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play WTA tournaments and win.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Novak Djokovic. I do not think there is any need for explanation. I also like Elena Rybakina because I am very similar to her in terms of game and temperament, and I train with the same coach.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and reading.
