What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Santiago Josue Gonzalez Rodriguez. I was born on December 16, 2011, and I am 14 years old. I am Venezuelan and I live in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was six years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my older sister also plays tennis. She is currently studying in Kansas, United States, and is part of the women’s tennis team at Bethel College.
In which tennis academy do you train?
I train at Jaimes Baclini Tennis Academy.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are Luis Jaimes and Cesar Vivas.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my speed on court, and I need to improve the power of my shots.
What is your age category and ranking?
I compete in the 16 and Under category. I am ranked No. 1 nationally, No. 4 in COSAT, No. 1380 in the ITF rankings, and my WTN is 14.8.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I am currently part of the Venezuelan national team. I participated in the South American U16 Championship, where we qualified for the Junior Davis Cup in Cairo, Egypt, in November 2026.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Brazil.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use Babolat rackets and strings, Nike shoes, and Cuadro clothing. I am currently sponsored for clothing by Cuadro, a Venezuelan company.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to be among the Top 1000 in the ITF rankings.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become World No. 1.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Novak Djokovic because he is a player with great physical and mental strength.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy playing ping-pong.
