What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Novak Petkovic. I was born on February 29, 2012, in Sweden. I am Swedish and Serbian. I live just outside Kalmar, Sweden. My family is Serbian.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Swedish, Serbian, and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only one in my family who plays tennis.
In which tennis club do you play?
I play for Växjö Tennis Sällskap in Sweden.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are Ludwig Boos Eek, Jonas Carlander, and Magnus Larsson.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I would say my forehand is my biggest strength. I can use it to control the game, move my opponent around, and create opportunities. I also have good footwork and I am quick around the court. One thing I need to improve is my patience. Sometimes I can become too offensive and try to finish the point too early. I want to get better at keeping the ball in play longer and waiting for the right opportunity to attack.
What is your age category and ranking?
I play in the U14 category and I am currently ranked No. 10 in Sweden according to WTN. My current UTR is 8.33, and I have also beaten many of the top players in my age group.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have won several big tournaments, gone deep in many important competitions, and beaten many of the top players in Sweden. I am especially proud of the progress I have made and of being able to compete against some of the best players in my age group.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
Most of my tournaments have been in Sweden, but I have also competed internationally in countries such as Croatia, Serbia, Austria, and Denmark.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I mainly wear HEAD clothing and use the new HEAD Extreme racket. I use Nike shoes and Luxilon strings. I am sponsored by HEAD.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to become the best U14 player in Sweden.
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest dream is to win the US Open and become No. 1.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Novak Djokovic. I admire his mentality, his fighting spirit, and the way he competes in the biggest matches. He is also a huge inspiration for me because of everything he has achieved in tennis.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
