What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Nikola Hodnicova. I was born on October 27, 2014, and I am from Bratislava, Slovakia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Slovak, English, and Czech.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was four years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, there are tennis players in my family. My mom, my grandma, and my great-grandma all played tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Slovan Bratislava.
Who is your coach?
My coach is Jozef Blaško, and I have individual training sessions with him.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my forehand. I think I need to improve my volleys.
What is your age category and national ranking?
My age category is U12, but after my 12th birthday I will play in U14. My national ranking in U12 is No. 57. I have just started playing U14, where my current ranking is No. 215.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my biggest successes was finishing third nationally in U10 and winning the U10 doubles national title. In U14, I won three times in three tournaments. In Tennis Europe U12, I finished third after winning a very long match against a player from Romania. Recently, I also finished second in doubles two weeks in a row.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with a Wilson Pro Staff racket and Babolat strings. I use Wilson shoes and clothing from Head, Babolat, and Nike. I am not sponsored yet.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to be in the Top 10 in U14 and to win a Tennis Europe tournament.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become a professional tennis player and reach the Top 10 in the WTA rankings.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite tennis player is Elena Rybakina. She is always mentally well prepared, she plays really well, and I like her playing style.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and doing workouts while listening to music.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my grandma and my tennis friends.
