What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Giovani Pantano. I was born on June 30, 2012. I am Brazilian and I live in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, Brazil.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Portuguese.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started training tennis when I was 10 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My parents play tennis for fun, but they have never competed.
In which tennis club do you train?
I currently train with the tennis team at Clube Monte Líbano.
Who are your coaches?
The team coordinator is coach Manuel Cunha, and several coaches are part of the team.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My strongest shot in tennis is my forehand. What I still need to improve is my mental game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the 14M category. My national ranking is No. 405, and I cannot wait to recover and return to competition.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest achievements so far are the São Paulo state championship titles that I have won several times in different categories. I am currently ranked No. 20 in the state ranking.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have never competed outside my country.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
At the moment, I use a Yonex racket, and my competition shoes are from Asics.
What is your next goal?
As soon as I recover, I will continue competing in the Federação Paulista tournaments, but I really want to win a national title.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become a professional tennis player.
Who is your favorite player and why?
Roger Federer, for sure. For me, he was and still is the best player of all time. He has the most beautiful backhand and plays with so much elegance.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
When I am not playing tennis, I do not have much free time, but when I can, I enjoy playing video games.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I dedicate this interview to my family, who believe in me and are by my side at every step of my journey. I also dedicate it to everyone who believes in my potential and in my dream of growing in tennis. I hope that throughout this journey, I can find brands and partners who want to be part of this path and help me continue improving and achieving my goals.
