My name is Nadezhda Sokolenko. I am 14 years old and I was born on October 19, 2011, in Minsk, Belarus. I currently live and train in Minsk.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian and Belarusian, and I am actively learning English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes. My dadโ€™s sister, Yana Sokolenko, is a former professional tennis player and now works as a tennis coach for a womenโ€™s university team in the United States (ODU).
In which tennis club do you train?
I currently train at the Republican Olympic Tennis Training Center, the largest tennis center in Belarus with high-level tennis and fitness coaching.
What is your coaching team?
I train with a team of tennis coaches, fitness coaches, and sparring partners at the Republican Olympic Tennis Training Center.
What is your weekly training routine?
Sunday is my day off. I attend a sports school and dedicate almost all of my free time to tennis. Every day I complete two group training sessions and physical training, or group training, sparring sessions, and general fitness work.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I am left-handed, which I consider one of my strengths, and I am constantly working on making this advantage even stronger.
What is your age category and ranking?
I currently compete in U16 tournaments and also actively play U18 events. I am ranked No. 8 in Belarus. My best Tennis Europe ranking recently was No. 331, and my singles UTR rating is 7.92. I also compete successfully in doubles with multiple Tennis Europe titles and a doubles UTR of 7.64.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievements so far include winning several Tennis Europe singles and doubles titles, as well as becoming runner-up at the Belarus U18 National Championship.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
In addition to national tournaments in Belarus, I have competed in the USA, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Spain, and the Czech Republic.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet. I am actively looking for sponsorship opportunities and hope to find partners who believe in my journey.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a top professional tennis player and compete in every Grand Slam tournament around the world.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
My favorite WTA player is Mirra Andreeva because she fights for every point until the very last ball. My favorite ATP player is Carlos Alcaraz because he is strong and plays incredible tennis.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
On my Sundays off, I enjoy drawing, walking outside, and swimming.
