What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Muntaha Hussain. I was born on April 23, 2015. I am Motswana and I live in Gaborone, Botswana.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was nine years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my brother and sister also play tennis.
In which tennis academy do you train?
I train at Freestars Academy.
Who is your coach?
My coach is Freedom Tapera.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is definitely my forehand. I am known for having a powerful forehand, and I use it to control points and put pressure on my opponents. I think I still need to work on my consistency and staying patient during longer rallies, especially when a point is not going the way I want it to.
What is your age category and national ranking?
My age category is U12 and I am ranked No. 1 in Botswana. I have also played for the national team.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest successes so far include getting the opportunity to play for my country and earning gold in almost every tournament I play.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Mozambique, South Africa, and Botswana.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use a Babolat racket and Adidas shoes. I do not have a current sponsor, but I would love to get a sponsorship from Babolat.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to get a sponsorship from Babolat, travel for more tournaments, keep aiming for gold, and start competing in J30 tournaments so I can move closer to competing in Grand Slams.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play college tennis, play at an elite level, and compete in all four Grand Slam tournaments.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Aryna Sabalenka because I like her power and aggressiveness on court. She inspires me a lot.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy playing golf and padel for fun.
