My name is Mitchellen Alexa C. Cruspero. I am 14 years old and I was born on October 1, 2011. I am Filipina and I am from Tayasan, Negros Oriental, Philippines.
What languages do you speak?
I can speak English, Tagalog, and Bisaya.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of eight.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My siblings, my older sister and older brother, used to play tennis. My sister stopped playing because she focused on her studies, and my brother switched to volleyball.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at our home court in Tayasan and sometimes at Praxevilla Tennis Court in Dumaguete City.
What is your coaching team?
I have private coaches who help me with my tennis development.
What is your weekly training routine?
I have various routines during my training, depending on what I need to work on and prepare for.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I believe my greatest strength as a player is my determination and willingness to work hard. No matter the situation, I always try to stay focused, give my best effort, and keep fighting for every point. I am also eager to learn and improve from every training session and match. I especially want to improve my speed and footwork, as they are important for moving efficiently around the court and performing at my best.
What is your age category and ranking?
I play in the 16U category. I am currently ranked No. 6 by Unified Tennis Philippines and No. 10 in the PHILTA rankings.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my greatest achievements so far was being selected as one of the Top 3 players in the Philippines Junior 14U category to play at the ITF World Junior Qualifying event in Sri Lanka.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines.
Do you have any sponsors?
I currently do not have any sponsors.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to continuously improve my skills and become the best player I can be. I want to compete in more tournaments, gain experience against strong opponents, and keep learning from every match. One of my biggest dreams is to represent the Philippines in international competitions and make my family, coaches, and country proud.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to compete at the highest level possible, including playing in WTA tournaments, and to represent the Philippines with pride. I want to win tournaments, continue improving my game, and achieve success through hard work and dedication. Most importantly, I want to make my parents proud and show them that all their sacrifices and support have been worth it.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Rafael Nadal. He has always been my favorite tennis player because of his determination, discipline, and humility. I admire how he never gives up, always fights for every point, and remains kind and respectful despite all of his success. I would love to meet him, learn from his experiences, and thank him for being one of my biggest inspirations in tennis.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, relaxing, traveling to new places, exploring new things, and doing thrilling adventures. I also enjoy watching tennis matches and learning from professional players, which helps me stay motivated.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my parents. They have always supported me, believed in me, and made countless sacrifices to help me pursue my dreams in tennis. Their love, encouragement, and hard work motivate me to keep improving every day, and I hope to make them proud through my dedication and achievements both on and off the court.
