Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of birth, Nationality, City of residence
My name is Mila Barnes, but most people know me as Mila B. 🐝 I am 11 years old and was born on September 2, 2014. I am American and I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old. At first it was just for fun, but as I continued training and competing, I fell in love with the sport. I enjoy the challenge because every match teaches me something new.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My parents did not play tennis, but my aunt played college tennis. My family supports me with training, tournaments, travel, recovery, and the mental side of the game, which helps me continue improving.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train in Atlanta, Georgia, with my coach Angie Haynes, a former Top 100 WTA professional player. I am very thankful to learn from someone who competed at such a high level.
What is your coaching team?
My main coach is Angie Haynes. My physio is my mom, Venilla Barnes, who is a physical therapist and helps me stay healthy and recover properly. My sports psychologist and mental coach is my aunt, Karen Barnes, who played college tennis and helps me stay focused and confident during competition.
What is your weekly training routine?
I usually train six days a week. My routine includes tennis practice, serve work, match play, fitness training, footwork and agility exercises, tournament preparation, point construction, returns, and finishing points at the net.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is being a left-handed player and using my serve and forehand to control points. I enjoy playing aggressively, moving forward, and finishing at the net. I want to improve my consistency, decision-making, mental toughness, patience, and point construction.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently compete in the Girls 12s division and my national ranking is No. 142 in the United States.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my biggest successes include winning tournaments, reaching finals, and competing in high-level national events. I am also proud of the progress I have made against strong players from across the country.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in the United States, but I would love to compete internationally in the future.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I am a member of Team HEAD, and I am very grateful for their support.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to continue improving every aspect of my game, get stronger, move better, compete in bigger tournaments, and keep climbing the rankings. I would love to win a USTA Level 1 tournament and compete in the Orange Bowl.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player, become the greatest of all time, and win 30 Grand Slam titles. I also hope to inspire young girls around the world to believe in themselves.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would most like to meet Serena Williams because she is the greatest of all time. I admire her confidence, power, and the impact she has had on tennis.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love building Lego sets, listening to music, and simply having fun and being a kid.
