My name is Leopoldo Rios. I am 11 years old and I was born on September 24, 2014. I am from Guatemala and I live in Guatemala City.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the first tennis player in my family.
In which tennis club do you train?
I currently train at the National Tennis Federation and also have private training sessions.
What is your coaching team?
My federation coach is Lester Díaz, and my private coach is Kristin Schedelgar.
What is your weekly training routine?

What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my forehand, and I need to improve my serve.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently compete in the U12 category.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I was national champion in U10 in 2024 and U12 in 2026. I also won the second draw of a COTECC G2 tournament, several UTR format tournaments, and other local tournaments.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Guatemala and El Salvador.

No, I do not have any sponsors at the moment.
What is your goal for 2026?
My next goals are to qualify for the COTECC Team Competition U12 Finals, win a main draw at a COTECC tournament, and keep improving as a player and as a person.
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest dream is to play in Grand Slam tournaments, get as close as possible to becoming No. 1 in the ATP rankings, and have a successful career while proudly representing Guatemala.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
My favorite player is Carlos Alcaraz because he makes many impressive plays that I have not seen any other player do.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy playing football, playing video games, and spending time with my friends and family.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my family, who have supported me from the first day.
