What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Katelyn DuRant. I was born on May 20, 2013. I am from Charleston, South Carolina, USA.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, all of my family likes to play tennis. My little sister, who is 10, has also started playing some tournaments.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at LTP in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Who are your coaches?
I have a lot of great coaches through LTP.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I really like my forehand. I could improve my serve, and I have been working on it.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in Girls 14U. I am currently ranked No. 734 nationally and No. 12 in South Carolina.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my greatest successes so far was winning two Level 5 tournaments in a row right when I started playing up in the 14s. I was pretty proud of that.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in the United States.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use a Yonex racket, Adidas shoes, and I wear different clothing brands. I am not currently sponsored.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to qualify for Winter Nationals this year.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play at a Division I school and one day become a professional tennis player.
Who is your favorite player and why?
I really like Iva Jovic. I like her style of play and how much she has accomplished at a young age.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy shopping and hanging out with my friends.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my mom because she is my biggest supporter.
