What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Iana Obolenskaia. I was born on April 3, 2010. I am Russian and I live in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian and I am actively learning English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was five years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, no one in my family plays tennis except me.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I think my advantage is that I am an emotionally stable player. I stay focused during matches and play until the end. I would like to improve my serve.
What is your age category?
I play in the Under-17 age category.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I play in ITF tournaments, and one of my best results so far was finishing second at the ITF J30 tournament in Dushanbe.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with a Yonex racket and use Yonex strings. I really love Nike clothes, but I play in Asics shoes because I love their sneakers. I do not have any sponsors yet, but I would really like to.
What is your next goal?
My goal is to win as many ITF tournaments as possible and show the best results.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play in Grand Slam tournaments.
Who is your favorite player and why?
I really love Aryna Sabalenka. I follow her constantly on social media and watch her matches. I like her playing style, and I think she is a very kind person in real life. I really want to meet her.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love to learn and discover something new. I also really enjoy spending time with my friends and going for walks outside.
