My name is Akira Bonomi, and I am 14 years old. I was born in Switzerland in 2012. I am both Japanese and Brazilian, and I currently live in Spain.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Japanese and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 3 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes. My sister also plays tennis. We train together and share the same private coach.
What is your coaching team?
My sister and I train with a private coach who guides our tennis development and competition schedule.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train approximately 21 hours of tennis and 3 hours of fitness every week.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my variety of shots. I enjoy being creative on the court and finding different ways to build points. The main area I am working to improve is my footwork.
What is your age category and ranking?
I compete in the U14 category. I do not currently have a national ranking, and my Tennis Europe ranking is No. 228.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest achievement so far was becoming the Japan Junior Tennis Tour 2022 U10 Ranking Champion.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in Portugal, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Montenegro, Japan, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and England.

No, I do not have any sponsors yet.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to continue improving every aspect of my game and keep progressing as a player.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to win all four Grand Slam tournaments multiple times.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Roger Federer and Jannik Sinner. They are both players I admire, and it would be amazing to have the opportunity to play tennis with them.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy playing golf, spending time with my family, watching movies, and playing games.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family and my friends who always support me. My sister Meina and I also have our own motto: “Akiramenai,” which means “never give up” in Japanese and combines our two names, Akira and Meina. It is a reminder we carry onto the court every time we play.
