๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Aarav Gupta | Interview, June 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of Birth, Nationality, City of Residence
My name is Aarav Gupta. I am 17 years old, born on March 28, 2009. I am Indian and currently live and train in Villena, Spain.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Spanish, and Hindi.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, there are no competitive tennis players in my family. My dad used to play tennis recreationally on weekends, and he was the one who introduced me to the sport. What started as something fun quickly became my passion.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the Ferrero Tennis Academy in Villena, Spain.
What is your coaching team?
My head coaches are Fran J. Penalva and Brian Garcia. I also work with my physiotherapist, Marcos. I am grateful to have a team that supports me every day and helps me improve both physically and mentally.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train approximately 36 hours per week. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, I train from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a second training block from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, I complete the morning training session. My schedule includes tennis, fitness, movement work, recovery, and match preparation.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strength is my forehand. I like to play aggressive tennis, take control of rallies, and look for opportunities to finish points. The area I am focusing on improving the most is my backhand while defending and hitting on the run.
What is your age category and ranking?
I compete in both the Under-18 and Men’s categories. My current Spanish Under-18 ranking is No. 318.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my proudest achievements so far was reaching the final of the IBP 500 tournament in Yecla in 2026. During that tournament, I earned wins over several players with ATP points, which gave me a lot of confidence. I have also had the opportunity to compete in an ITF M15 doubles event, gaining valuable experience at a higher level of competition.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in India and Spain. I am looking forward to expanding my international experience with upcoming tournaments in Thailand and Kazakhstan.
Do you have any sponsors?
At the moment, I do not have any sponsors. My focus is on continuing to improve and achieving results that will help open new opportunities in the future.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to compete in multiple ITF M15 tournaments and earn places in their main draws. I want to continue testing myself against stronger players and take the next step in my development.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become World No. 1 and win all four Grand Slam titles. I know it is a challenging journey, but it is the goal that motivates me to work hard every day.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would most like to meet Roger Federer. He has always been my favorite player because of his style, elegance, and sportsmanship. The way he played the game inspired me from a young age, and meeting him would be a dream come true.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
When I am not training or competing, I enjoy playing the guitar. It helps me relax, clear my mind, and enjoy a different challenge away from tennis.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my dad. He introduced me to tennis and has been the biggest supporter throughout my journey. He has made countless sacrifices to help me pursue my goals, and I would not be where I am today without his belief, encouragement, and support.
