๐๏ธ Sriniya Sarkar | Interview, April 2026
Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Sriniya Sarkar. I am 14 years old. I was born on April 19, 2011. I am Indian and I live in Oslo, Norway.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Norsk, and Bengali.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 8.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No.
In which club do you train?
I train at Norstrand in Oslo, Norway, and at Piatti in Bordighera, Italy.
What is your coaching team?
My coaching team includes coaches from Norstrand, Wang UNG, and Piatti.
What is your weekly training routine?
I follow a 6-day training regime, with 3 to 4 hours of tennis and fitness every day.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my work ethic. I am fully committed to improving my performance. I need to become more aggressive and confident in important moments. Sometimes I play too safely instead of trusting my shots, especially under pressure. I also want to keep improving my physical strength and consistency so I can maintain a high level throughout long matches.
What is your age category and your ranking?
I compete in the U16 category and I am ranked No. 2.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have won NM Lag team matches at all levels: U12, U14, and Women. In the national championships, I won the doubles title. In singles, I reached the final twice.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
Do you have any sponsors?
I do not have any sponsors yet, but I am actively looking for one. Tennis is a demanding sport not only in terms of training and discipline, but also financially. International travel, coaching, tournament fees, equipment, and physical conditioning all add up quickly. My parents are fully committed to supporting my journey, but we are now at a point where sponsorship support is essential to sustain and support my progress.
What is your goal for 2026?
I will play several Tennis Europe and ITF tournaments this year. My goal is to improve my performance and increase my chances of qualifying for the Race to Masters in Monte Carlo next year.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to play all four Grand Slams and win them one day.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek. I would love to learn from their discipline, how they prepare for important matches, stay calm during close points, and motivate themselves when they are down.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside tennis, I enjoy listening to music by Blackpink, browsing on my phone, and playing mobile games.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I am not dedicating this interview to one specific person, but opportunities like this inspire me to work harder to achieve my professional dream.
