My name is Shannon Lam. I am 17 years old and I was born on June 7, 2008. I am American and I live in New Jersey, USA.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only tennis player in my family.
Where did you train?
I grew up training at Little Silver Tennis Academy in New Jersey. Later, I trained at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, before joining my current academy.
What is your coaching team?
My team includes my tennis coach Oscar, fitness coach Slav, psychologist Christina, and a team of physiotherapists.
What is your weekly training routine?
Four days a week, I train around 3.5 hours of tennis and 2 hours of fitness. I have one day off and two lighter training days with 2 hours of tennis and 1 hour of fitness.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my wide variety of shots. I am an all-court player. Currently, I am focused on improving my fitness and serve.
What is your current ranking?
I currently compete on the ITF Pro Circuit and am ranked inside the Top 800 of the WTA rankings.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest successes last year were reaching the finals of two W15 tournaments.
In which countries or regions have you played tournaments?
I have competed in tournaments across North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Africa.

What is your goal for 2026?
My goal is to reach the Top 500 of the WTA rankings by August.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a Top 100 WTA player one day.

I would most like to meet Agnieszka Radwaล„ska because I watched her play a lot when I first started tennis and always admired her game.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy baking, playing video games, and drawing.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my academy. I have really enjoyed my past year there and I am very pleased with my improvements.
