Nika Stor · Interview, August 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of Birth, Nationality, City of Residence
My name is Nika Štor. I am 16 years old and I was born on April 17, 2010. I am from Slovenia and I live in Dravograd, a small town in the countryside close to the Austrian border.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Slovenian and English, and I am also learning German at school.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old, around the time I started school.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, tennis is a big part of my family. My father played tennis when he was a child and always had a big passion for the sport. My grandfather also plays tennis, and today everyone in my family plays, including my mother and my sister.
In which tennis club do you train?
I practise at Tenis Klub Ravne in Ravne na Koroškem. I have been training there since I was very young, so the club has been a big part of my tennis journey.
What is your coaching team?
My main coach is my father. I also train with Benjamin Beliš and Miha Vetrih. My fitness coach is Zdravko Kotnik, and I also work with my kinesiologist Urška Verdinek.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strength is my fighting spirit. I could play tennis day and night because I really love the game. I never give up and always fight until the last point. Right now, I want to improve my serve so I can become a more complete and dangerous player.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently compete in ITF Junior U18 tournaments. In Slovenia, I am currently ranked No. 1 in the U16 category.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievements so far are becoming Slovenian U18 National Champion, winning a Tennis Europe tournament, and reaching the final of two ITF Junior J60 tournaments.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I currently play tournaments all over Europe. I have competed in Austria, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes. Tecnifibre Slovenia sponsors me with tennis equipment, while Joma supports me with clothing and shoes.
What is your goal for 2026?
My current goal is to win an ITF Junior tournament and finish the year with an ITF Junior ranking inside the Top 300.
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest tennis dream is to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in one year.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
My favorite tennis player is Roger Federer because I love his technique and the way he played the game. At the moment, I also really support Jannik Sinner because I admire his mentality, calmness, and the way he handles pressure on court.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also love going to the mountains and I really enjoy skiing.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family and my coaches because they support me and believe in me every day. They are always there for me, both on and off the court, and I am very grateful to have them by my side.
