What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Matilde Pozza. I am 13 years old and I was born on August 19, 2013, in Lugano, Switzerland.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Russian, French, and Italian. I am also learning German and Spanish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis seriously when I was seven years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Scuola Tennis by Margaroli and with ML Management, which work in collaboration.
Who are your coaches?
My coach is Luca Margaroli and at ML Management my coach is Marie Lou Faoro. Adriano Allegretti is my mental coach.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my mentality, and I believe that in tennis everything always needs to be improved.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the U14 category. I am currently ranked No. 177 in Tennis Europe U14 and I have an R1 ranking.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my greatest successes include winning Montreux Category 2 and reaching the doubles final, reaching the singles and doubles finals in Pully Category 3, winning singles and doubles in Tirana U12 Category 2, finishing third in singles and winning doubles at the U12 Swiss Championships, and reaching the U14 doubles final. I also won Ten-Pro Budapest in U12 and U13, and reached the Ten-Pro Paris U12 final and finished fourth in U13.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Europe, including Montenegro, Croatia, France, Belgium, Hungary, North Macedonia, Greece, and other countries.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I currently use Head gear because I really like it and because Head is my sponsor. I do not have a clothing sponsorship at the moment.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to play Les Petits As.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become a professional tennis player and to have no regrets in tennis.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite tennis player is Rafael Nadal because of his mentality, his ability to never give up, and the way he always gives his best.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I really enjoy baking and cooking.
