🎙️ Maissane Ben Hassine | Interview, May 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of birth, Nationality, City of residence
My name is Maissane Ben Hassine. I am 19 years old, born in 2007 in France. I am French and Saudi Arabian, and I proudly represent Saudi Arabia in tennis. I currently live between Nîmes, France, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak French and English fluently. I am also learning Modern Standard Arabic. I can read and write Arabic, and I am working on improving my speaking skills through daily practice.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 4. I remember watching Maria Sharapova on TV, and she inspired me a lot. From the first moments on court, I loved the sport and the feeling of competing.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only tennis player in my family. However, my father was a professional football player, so sport has always been part of our family environment.
In which tennis club do you train?
I currently train at AlUla Tennis Club in Saudi Arabia, and I also practice at HDN Tennis Academy in Nîmes, France.
What is your coaching team?
My coaching team includes my tennis coach Romain, physical trainers Sabri and Alex, a mental coach, and a physiotherapist. In Saudi Arabia, I also work with coach Sami.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, except on Sundays, which are dedicated to recovery and rest. My routine includes tennis practice, fitness training, stretching, recovery sessions, and mental preparation.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My forehand is one of my biggest weapons. I have an aggressive game style, with strong intensity and consistency from the baseline. I would describe myself as a true clay-court player because I love constructing points, defending, and varying my shots with drop shots and changes of rhythm. I always work on improving every aspect of my game to become more complete and stronger mentally and physically.
What is your age category and ranking?
I currently compete in the women’s senior category. My French ranking is 0, and I have already achieved wins against players ranked -2/6. I also had an ITF Junior ranking, even though I did not play many international junior tournaments.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my best memories was my win against a -2/6 player in Menton after a 3-hour and 45-minute match. I also won the doubles title at the J60 Riyadh tournament and have won many tournaments in France, including CNGT events, where I had the opportunity to compete against top-level French players.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in tournaments in France, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Sri Lanka.
Do you have any sponsors?
Last year, I was sponsored by Volkl for two years. This season, I started a new partnership and sponsorship with IEX.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to start competing regularly in $15K tournaments and earn my first WTA points.
What is your tennis dream?
My ultimate dream is to win a Grand Slam one day and become a Top 200 WTA player.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Rafael Nadal because he has always been my idol. I admire his mentality, fighting spirit, and humility. I also enjoy watching Jannik Sinner because of his calm attitude and incredible level, and meeting Novak Djokovic would also be an amazing experience.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love spending time with my friends and family. Even simple moments like going to a restaurant together help me disconnect and recharge mentally before returning to full focus on court.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family and everyone who has supported me since the beginning of my journey. Their belief in me gives me strength every single day.
