What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Liliana Richardson. I was born on April 22, 2012. I am American and I live in Denver, Colorado.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was six years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my dad, mom, and younger sister all play tennis in tournaments and/or leagues.
In which tennis club do you train?
My dad and mom have coached me from the beginning. I have also taken high-performance training at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, Ken Caryl Ranch, and Apex Tennis Center.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are Gregory Richardson and Christina Santino.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is that I am an all-court player. I can play in a variety of ways because of my ability to execute all types of shots, including forehands, backhands, slices, serves, and drop shots. Combined with my athletic ability, this can make opponents very frustrated. I need to continue working on my consistency, as sometimes my variety can cause me to make too many errors.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I play in the 14U, 16U, and 18U categories. My national ranking in 14U is No. 1,118, and my singles UTR is 3.54, doubles is 4.02 and rising.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest success was being asked to train at the Rafa Nadal Academy and to participate in the Next Gen Training Camp by Avanza Sports. I trained in Spain at the Rafa Nadal Academy in April 2026, and I will travel to Barcelona in November to train with WTA and ATP coaches and players.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played in the United States and Spain.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with the Yonex 98 8th Generation racket. I love the spin and power it gives to my shots. I use Wilson Champion’s Choice strings because I love natural gut, and I wear Wilson Pro Tour shoes. I am currently not sponsored by Yonex or Wilson.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to increase my UTR to a 5.00 or higher in both singles and doubles by summer of 2027.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become a successful college tennis player with the opportunity to become a professional tennis player.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite players are Jasmine Paolini and Coco Gauff because they are two Black women I play similarly to.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love playing video games, hanging out with friends, and watching Netflix romantic comedies and horror movies.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my dad and mom, because they are the reason I have fun playing tennis.
