My name is Laura Szimandel. I am 14 years old and I was born on May 30, 2012. I am from Hungary and I live in Bratislava, Slovakia.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Hungarian, Slovak, English, and Czech.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of three.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my sister also plays tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
In Slovakia, I train at the Love4Tennis Academy. In Hungary, I train at Nexon Dunakeszi Club.
What is your coaching team?
My main coach is my dad, Karol Szimandel.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train about two to three hours a day. I also focus on conditioning, stretching, and mental coaching.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength as a player is my attack. My best shot is my forehand, and I am an aggressive player. I need to improve my defence.
What is your age category and national ranking?
My age category is Under 14. I am ranked No. 1 nationally in Hungary, and my Tennis Europe ranking is No. 94.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
In 2024, I won the Hungarian Championship Under 12 in both singles and doubles. In 2025, I won the Champions Bowl. In 2026, I won the Hungarian Championship Under 14 and Under 16 in singles.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in tournaments in Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Croatia, and Italy.

My goal for 2026 is to win the European Junior Championship.
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest tennis dream is to win Wimbledon one day.

What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love spending time with my friends, reading, listening to music, and doing different sports.
