Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Jorya Nikunjkumar Modi. I am 8 years old. I was born on April 10, 2018. I am Indian and I live in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 5 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My father plays table tennis and introduced me to the sport.
In which club do you train?
I train at Altura Sports Academy in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
What is your coaching team?
I am coached by Ronak Patel and Mahesh Thakor, with the support of my father, Nikunj Modi.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 6 days a week, focusing on on-court drills, fitness, and match practice for about 2 hours a day.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my forehand and my mental focus during decisive points. I am currently working on improving my serve consistency and net play.
What is your age category and your ranking?
I compete in the U8 and U10 categories. I am currently ranked No. 1 in the GSTA (Gujarat State Tennis Association) in the U8 mixed category.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have won 6 consecutive GSTA titles and reached the No. 1 state ranking. I also earned 125 ranking points this season.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed across Gujarat, India.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I am currently sponsored by Kids Brain Power, where I focus on mental conditioning through their Brain Gym programs. I was also offered a position with the Price Sponsorship Program, but I decided to decline at this time because the equipment specifications did not match my technical requirements.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal is to maintain my No. 1 ranking, win more titles, and start competing in higher age categories to challenge myself.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to represent India on the international stage and play in the Grand Slams.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Jannik Sinner because of his incredible mental strength and movement on the court.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
I enjoy playing cricket, video games, and spending time with my friends.
