🎙️ Hope Anweiler | Interview, June 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of Birth, Nationality, City of Residence
My name is Hope Anweiler. I am 11 years old and was born on February 24, 2015. I am German and live near Heidelberg, Germany.
What languages do you speak?
I speak German and I am currently learning English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 8 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Before me, there were no tennis players in my family. My dad was a football player, but after I discovered tennis, my enthusiasm for the sport spread throughout the family. Today, my sister, my brother-in-law, and even my parents play tennis too. It makes me proud that I inspired my family to share my love for the game.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Tennisclub Rauenberg and also at the Baden Tennis Federation in Leimen.
What is your coaching team?
My coach is Rolf Edinge.
What is your weekly training routine?
Every week, I do one team training session, three to four individual training sessions of 1.5 hours each, and one athletic training session. I also regularly take part in the Talent Group program of the Baden Tennis Federation, where I train with other talented players and continue to develop my game.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my fighting spirit. I never give up and always try to find a way back into a match, even in difficult situations. Fair play is also very important to me and is a big part of who I am, both on and off the court. I want to improve my consistency and become even stronger mentally during important matches.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Girls U12 category. From July 1, 2026, I will be ranked among the Top 100 players nationally in Germany.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my biggest achievements so far was becoming the Baden Indoor Vice Champion in 2026. This result gave me a lot of confidence and motivation to continue working hard toward my goals.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in Germany, but I would love to compete internationally in the near future and gain experience against players from different countries.
Do you have any sponsors?
Unfortunately, I do not have any sponsors yet, but hopefully that will change in the future. I would be very happy to work with partners who believe in my journey and support my development as a player.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to keep improving every day and to reach the Top 10 in the national rankings. I want to continue developing my game and competing against the best players in my age group.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a top professional tennis player, win one or several Grand Slam titles, and make the name Hope known all around the world through tennis.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
My favorite male player is Carlos Alcaraz because I think he is the most versatile and toughest player on tour. My favorite female player is Aryna Sabalenka because of her incredible fighting spirit and determination. I would love to meet both of them one day and learn from their experiences and mindset.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Besides tennis, I regularly practice gymnastics, which helps me stay athletic and coordinated. I also love spending time with my friends and enjoying life away from the tennis court.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family, my coach, and everyone who supports me on my tennis journey. Their encouragement, belief, and support motivate me every day to work hard, stay humble, and follow my dreams.
