Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of birth, Nationality, City of residence
Hello, my name is Evelyn May. I am 10 years old, born in April 2016. I have Canadian and German nationality, and I currently live in Montreal, Canada.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, French, German, and Russian.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 5 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Some of my family members are beginner tennis players, but there are no professional tennis players in my family yet. My sports role model is my grandfather, who was a professional Greco-Roman wrestler.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Académie Ménard in Montreal, Canada.
What is your coaching team?
My tennis coaches are Juliette Chan and Luc Champagnet, with occasional training in Germany under Kevin Kralj. My fitness coaches are Émile Kwan Fong and Marc-André Léonard.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 5 days a week and compete on weekends in tournaments or club leagues. My weekly schedule includes 10–12 hours of tennis and 3–4 hours of fitness training.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are my forehand and volleys. I continue working hard to improve my backhand, which is progressing well.
What is your age category and ranking?
I compete in the U10 category. I am currently ranked No. 1 among 2016-born players in Quebec and among the top three 2016-born players in Canada.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have won 31 medals and several trophies so far. I have been selected for the Tennis Québec provincial team for two consecutive years, and one of my greatest achievements was becoming a Triple Champion at the Little Mo International in New Jersey in August 2025.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in Canada and the United States. I have also trained in Germany and the Dominican Republic, and I will compete in France this summer.
Do you have any sponsors?
I currently receive some apparel discounts, but I am actively seeking sponsorship opportunities to support my international competition, advanced training, and private coaching.
What is your goal for 2026?
My main goal for 2026 is to successfully transition into the U12 category and continue improving toward competing in Tennis Europe international events in 2027.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become World No. 1 on the WTA Tour and compete at the highest level of professional tennis.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff because they each have unique playing styles, strong strategies, and exceptional mental strength.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, riding my bike, swimming, and occasionally doing puppy yoga.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family for their constant support and belief in me, and to all young players working hard to achieve their dreams.
