My name is Bernardo Suarez Malo. I am 12 years old. I was born on February 7, 2014. I live in Quito, Ecuador.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English, and I am learning Portuguese.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 6 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my brother and some of my cousins also play tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Club Rancho San Francisco in Quito.
What is your coaching team?
I have two tennis coaches, a fitness trainer, and a sports psychologist.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 3 hours a day from Monday to Friday, with 1 hour of fitness and 2 hours of tennis. On Saturdays, I train 2 hours of tennis, and on Sundays I rest.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I think my main strength is that I have many variations in my game. Something I need to improve is my physical condition.
What is your age category and your ranking?
I compete in two categories, U12 and U14. In U12 I am No. 1, and in U14 I am No. 3.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievements so far have been representing Ecuador at the U12 South American Championship in 2024 and qualifying for IMG Future Stars in 2026.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played in Ecuador, Colombia (COSAT), Paraguay (South American Championship), the USA (Eddie Herr), and Brazil (IMG Future Stars WC).
Do you have any sponsors?
No, my parents currently support all of my tennis expenses.
What is your goal for 2026?
In U12, my goal is to win the South American Championship in Bolivia in June, and in U14, I want to win a National G1 tournament.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to win the US Open and become world No. 1.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet GaΓ«l Monfils because I love his style of play, his passion for tennis, and his attitude. He always stays calm and fights on court.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my friends, going on trips, and doing sports.
