What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Ariane García Rodríguez. I was born on May 9, 2013. I am from A Coruña, Spain.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish, Basque, English, and a little French.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was four years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my little sister is also involved in the tennis world.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Real Club de Tenis Coruña in Oleiros.
Who is your coach?
My coach is Iago Fernandez-Reija Varela.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my forehand, with incredible ball speed and a lot of power, in the style of Sabalenka. I think I need to improve my serve a little.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the U14 category. My national U14 ranking is No. 149, and I am No. 3 in the Galician U14 ranking.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest successes so far include playing the National Master of the Blue Tennis Cup, winning two consecutive As Young Tour titles, and reaching the semifinals of this year’s As Young Tour U16 cadet event after beating the No. 2 seed.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I compete all over Spain, but I have not yet started playing internationally. International competition requires a very high level physically and mentally, and I want to reach my maximum level first.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
For tennis equipment such as rackets, I use Wilson. I have also been asked to collaborate with brands such as Diadora and Tennis Insane for clothing.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to win the Galician Championship, have a very strong tournament at the Spanish Championship, and be selected as one of the three best girls for the Spanish Championship by regional teams.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to win Roland-Garros. My dream would also be to become the youngest person in the world to achieve the Golden Slam.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player will always be Rafael Nadal. Since I started playing tennis, I watched all his matches, and no one can compete with his mental strength and the energy he has to make historic comebacks.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I really enjoy running, going to the gym, and singing.
