What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Vlada Hranchar. I was born on February 9, 2016. I am Ukrainian and originally from Odesa. Now, we live in Boca Raton, Florida, USA.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Ukrainian, and Russian.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at 3.5 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
There are no other tennis players in my family. My mom competed in track and field in school and university, and my dad played university hockey as a goaltender.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the Rick Macci Academy.
Who are your coaches?
My main coach is Rick Macci.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My strengths are my fighting spirit, determination, and great work ethic on the court. I am constantly working on improving my tactical consistency and shot power.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I am 10 years old and compete in the U12 category (also playing in U14 events), with a USTA national ranking of No. 13 and a UTR of 8.83.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest successes so far include successful performances and wins at USTA national tournaments in the U14 category, as well as competing in prestigious U.S. national championships (such as the USTA Level 1 Girls’ 12 National Championships).
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in the United States of America.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with Wilson rackets (Wilson Ultra 100UL V5.0 model) with Wilson NXT Power 17G strings and use Wilson overgrips. I have a sponsorship partnership with the Wilson brand.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to perform successfully at upcoming major tournaments, including the IMG Academy International Championships and the Junior Orange Bowl.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to become the world No. 1 and win Grand Slam tournaments.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite players are Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, and Marta Kostyuk. I admire their powerful strokes and mental toughness on the court.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
In addition to tennis, I practice taekwondo (and compete in it, too) and do stretching exercises. I also enjoy building Lego sets, reading books, and spending time with my bearded dragon, Lyser—whose name is Orange.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family—my parents and grandparents—and my coach, Rick Macci, who support me in everything, help me travel to tournaments, and share in my victories.
