What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Omar Cánovas Hashimoto. I was born on September 8, 2016. I am Mexican and I live in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak Spanish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was five years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my dad, my mom, and my uncles play tennis, and we like going to tournaments.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the Country Club of Los Mochis and at Sportyland.
Who are your coaches?
My coach is Levi Navarro.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are my consistency and winning mentality. I need to improve my volley a little.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently play in the 10 and under category, and my national ranking is No. 17.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
The best tournament I have won is the National G1 in Hermosillo, as well as the North Pacific sectional tournament.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have only played tournaments in Mexico.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use Babolat rackets and bags, and I also like using Yonex clothing, Nike, and Adidas. For tennis shoes, I always use Asics. I do not have any sponsorships; my dad pays for everything.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to keep growing as a person and reach the national Top 10.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play the US Open.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Carlos Alcaraz.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I like playing soccer and traveling to discover new places.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my mom, who takes care of my siblings so I can go to tournaments with my dad.
