What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Nathaniel Negron. I am 12 years old and I was born in 2014. I am American, and I am a quarter Thai, a quarter German, and half Puerto Rican. I live in Georgia, USA.
What languages do you speak?
I speak a little bit of Thai, I am fluent in Spanish, and I am currently learning Italian on Duolingo.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I picked up my first racket at around three years old, and I started lessons at around five.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my mom plays ALTA and sometimes USTA on her ladies team.
In which tennis academy do you train?
I currently play at Stephen Diaz Tennis Academy, SDTA.
Who are your coaches?
My head coach is Stephen Diaz, along with Coach Jason Patty, Coach Katarina Guarino, and Coach Yuri. I also have some other junior coaches.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
If I am going to be honest, my weapon is my serve. It has great placement and pace, and it can set me up for a short ball. One shot I need to improve is probably my tweener. I can make it sometimes, but most of the time it just ends up looking ugly.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently play in 12U. My national ranking is No. 213, and I am currently ranked No. 10 in Georgia, USA.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my greatest successes have been taking first place at the Champions Bowl Qualifiers and qualifying to represent Team USA, winning my first L5, and taking first place in the junior group at a Rafa Nadal Academy Camp while competing among 62 great players.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in the United States and Canada, and I will play in Puerto Rico soon.
What equipment brands do you currently use, and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use the Dunlop SX 300 LS racket and Dunlop Explosive Tour strings. I do not really have a preferred shoe, but I do like the Nike Vapors. I am also proud to be sponsored by Dunlop and be part of Team Dunlop.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is definitely to play Division I college tennis.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to win Roland-Garros.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite tennis player is Carlos Alcaraz because I like that he speaks Spanish, he is funny and energetic, and his forehand is massive.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I like spending time with my friends, playing on my Xbox, eating, watching tennis, and spending time with my family.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my Opa because he is the one who introduced me to tennis.
