My name is Mei Shimamura. I am 14 years old, born on June 1, 2011. I am Japanese and I live in Mie, Japan.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Japanese and I am currently studying English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my whole family enjoys tennis. My father (Kento Shimamura) is a coach, and my grandfather (Koichi Shimamura) was a former professional tennis player.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Roland Indoor Tennis Stage.
What is your coaching team?
My father runs the tennis school and plays a major role in my coaching journey.
What is your weekly training routine?
I do not follow a fixed weekly routine, but my life is centered around consistent tennis development.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my love for tennis. I need to become physically stronger and continue improving my overall athleticism.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the U15 category. My current rankings are No. 85 in girlsโ singles and No. 15 in girlsโ doubles.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my greatest achievements was finishing 4th among elementary school players in Japan.

I have played tournaments in Japan, the United States, and Sri Lanka.

Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would most like to meet my grandfather again, because he was a former professional player and remains a deep inspiration to me. I’m sorry. My grandfather passed away before I was born, so I never met him. But I’ve heard stories about him from customers and my father, so I wanted to meet him.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy chatting with friends and sleeping.
