What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Leen Vandebeek. I was born on May 17, 2014. I am Belgian and I live in Houthalen, Belgium.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak Dutch and a little French and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was five years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My brother played tennis too, which is why I started playing as well. My mom used to play tennis recreationally.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at LTA Maaseik.
Who are your coaches?
My head coach is India Maggen. When she is at a tournament, the other coaches at the academy take over for a while.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are my forehand and my varied, aggressive, and offensive style of play. I keep fighting even when things are not going my way. I am still working hard to improve my footwork and my mental game so I can stay calmer during my matches.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I currently play tournaments in Belgium in the Women’s 2 division, and on Tennis Europe in the U12 division until December. Starting next year, I will play in the U14 division. My national ranking in Belgium is No. 2.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have played in the finals of the Belgian and Flemish Championships in singles and doubles for several years. This year, I am competing in the U13 doubles again. I am also proud to have been part of the national team for the U12 Winter Cup and Summer Cup this year.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Great Britain, Estonia, Czechia, and Turkey.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with a Babolat Pure Aero racket and Luxilon Element strings. I usually wear Nike or Adidas clothing, and my tennis shoes are Adidas. Babolat sponsors my equipment this year.
What is your next goal?
My goal for the new season is to further develop my footwork, compete in Women’s 1 tournaments in Belgium, and win a Tennis Europe title.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to compete in a Grand Slam one day and make it into the Top 10 of the WTA rankings.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite players are Aryna Sabalenka because she never gives up and plays an aggressive game, and Carlos Alcaraz on the men’s side because he plays a spectacular game and is fun to watch.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
When I am not on the court or working on my fitness, I am usually at school, hanging out with my friends, or watching TV. I also really love going to watch major tennis tournaments with my mom. Soon, I will get to be a ball girl at the European Open.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my parents. They do so much for my tennis and always believe in me.
