What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Eva Diaconu Ciobanu. I was born on August 6, 2010. I am Irish with a Moldovan background, and I live in Kildare, Ireland.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak English and Romanian fluently, as well as French and Irish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of seven.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, there are no other tennis players in my family.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the National Tennis Centre in Dublin and Castleknock Tennis Club.
Who are your coaches?
My coach is Johnny McCormack.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my fitness and endurance. I am able to maintain my intensity throughout long matches and compete hard. I am constantly working on my physical conditioning, while also developing my forehand to make it more consistent and powerful.
What is your age category and national ranking?
My age category is U16 and my current national ranking is No. 18, with a career-high ranking of No. 10. In U18, my current ranking is No. 31, with a career-high ranking of No. 20. My WTN is 22.7 for singles and 24.2 for doubles. I am an ITF junior player.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have been a finalist at three 1000-level junior events: one U16 singles, one U18 singles, and one U16 doubles. I was also a Tennis Europe U16 doubles quarterfinalist, a Ten-Pro Dutch Bowl U15 finalist, and I have won five 500-level junior tournaments.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Moldova, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with a Babolat Aero Plus racket and Luxilon strings. I wear ASICS Gel Resolution X shoes and Nike and Adidas clothing. I am not currently sponsored.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to win my first ITF main-draw match and earn my first ITF ranking points. From there, I want to become more consistent at that level, go deeper into ITF tournaments, and continue progressing towards college tennis in the U.S.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play D1 college tennis in the U.S. and compete at the professional level.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Novak Djokovic because of his mental strength and discipline. Despite facing adversity throughout his life and career, he became the best.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I love listening to music, baking and cooking, living a healthy lifestyle, going to the gym, and getting stronger.
