What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Diego Morataya. I was born on April 16, 2013. I am from Guatemala City, Guatemala.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 10 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my brother also plays tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
In Guatemala, I train at the Federación Nacional de Tenis. In Oklahoma, I train at OU with Crowell and Cohen.
Who are your coaches?
In Guatemala, my coach is Edgar Moran. In Oklahoma, my coaches are Edson Ortiz and Zachary Lugrand.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are my backhand and first serve. I think I need to improve my second serve.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in U14, and my ranking is No. 10.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest success so far was winning first place in an L6 USTA tournament in Oklahoma.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use a Yonex racket with Solinco Confidential Soft and Hyper-G strings. For shoes and clothing, I use Nike, Lacoste, and Asics.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to win a COTECC tournament and keep competing internationally.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play Division 1 college tennis.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Carlos Alcaraz because of his agility and young age.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy studying and playing.
