My name is Bogdans Petrovs. I am 11 years old. I was born on May 9, 2014. I am from Latvia and I live in Riga.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Latvian, Russian, and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 6 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the first tennis player in my family.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train in Riga in a small, competitive group of players, which allows for a more focused and high-quality training environment.
What is your coaching team?
My training is guided by Jeļena Jakovļeva (A category coach) and Mihail Hmelnickij (C category coach). I also work individually with Mihail Hmelnickij on a regular basis.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train several times a week in a group setting, including three physical conditioning sessions. In addition, I have one to two individual sessions per week focusing on technique and match-specific details.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strength is my fighting spirit — I never give up and fight for every point. I am currently working on improving my serve and becoming more aggressive in important moments.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the U12 and U14 categories. In U12, I am currently ranked No. 2 in Latvia, and I also compete in U14 tournaments.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievements include winning tournaments in Latvia and competing successfully against higher-ranked players. I am also a member of the Latvian national team and have participated in the Winter Cup, with plans to compete in the Summer Cup.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in the Baltic countries (Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia), and I am now starting to play more international tournaments.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I have a partnership with Wilson Latvia.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to gain experience in international tournaments, improve my ranking, and compete at a higher level.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player and represent Latvia at the Olympic Games.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Novak Djokovic because of his mentality, discipline, and fighting spirit. I admire how he always gives everything on court.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with friends, staying active, and watching matches to learn from top players.
