🎙️Bakitova Aruzhan Erdenkyzy | Interview, November 2025
Hello, introduce yourself please. My name is Bakitova Aruzhan Erdenkyzy, I am 12 years old, I was born on September 19, 2013 in Kazakhstan.
I live in the city of Aktobe, Kazakhstan. What languages do you speak?I speak Kazakh, Russian, Kyrgyz and English fluently.
At what age did you start playing tennis?I’ve been playing tennis since I was 4 years old — I’ve been doing this for 8 years now.
Are there other tennis players in your family? My sister also plays in the family, she is 8 years old.
In which club do you train?Until the age of 10, I trained at the ACE Tennis Center, which is located in Aktobe, and then moved to a second tennis center, which is also located in Aktobe.
Who are your coaches?Until I was 8 years old I was coached by Dosym Sagintaevich and then until I was 10 years old I was coached by Vladimir Anatolivich with Utker Khabibulaevich (former head coach) and then Ernest Suleymanovich, Alexander Vladimirovich (head coach), Askar Tulkunovich, Mikhail Vladimirovich, Anton Alexandrovich (for physical training) and Zhasulan Serikovich.
What is your weekly training routine?I train seven days a week (but sometimes I rest after tournaments) twice a day.
As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?I’m doing great, I’d like to improve my mentality, and I’m fragile, but I run and do everything perfectly, but I’d like to gain weight and improve my physical body even better.
What is your junior category and your national ranking? In Kazakhstan I’m in the top 15, and in Aktobe I’m in the top 2.
What has been your greatest achievement?Well, there are so many. If I had to choose, I’d pick the Turkestan Masters (Kazakhstan) where I placed 3rd in singles (unfortunately, I lost the semifinal in the third set, but in doubles we confidently won 1st place).
I also want to mention 3rd place at the Tennis Europe U14, even though I was the youngest, I did it. I have many other achievements. In which countries have you already played tournament?I played Tennis Europe U12 in Azerbaijan and ATF U14 in Kyrgyzstan, played a lot of ATF and Tennis Europe in Kazakhstan.
Do you have any sponsors?I don’t have any sponsors yet, but sometimes the federation sponsors me for tournaments, sometimes my parents do. But I personally only play in Adidas and Babolat.
What is your goal for 2026?My goal for 2026 is to win the Kazakhstan Championship, try to participate more in Tennis Europe and ATF, show results, and at least get into the top 20 U14 since this will be my first year in the U14s. Get into the Kazakhstan national team, travel a lot, and win tournaments
What is your tennis dream? My dream is to become the world’s number 1 tennis player and be the most decorated tennis player in the world (including Grand Slams).
Who are your favorite tennis players? My idols are Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek.
What do you like to do outside of tennis?I like to read books and help my family.
To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?I dedicate this interview to my family, mom, dad, sisters, and grandmothers for believing in me, investing everything in me, and giving everything I had so I could play during difficult times. I am grateful to them for everything. I also want to mention the coaches for their faith and hard work. Thank you for everything!
Thanks a lot Bakitova!
