My name is Ayda Yucat. I am 12 years old and I was born on March 22, 2014, in Istanbul, Türkiye. I am a Turkish junior tennis player, I also hold British citizenship, and I live in Istanbul. I proudly represent Türkiye in junior tournaments.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Turkish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was seven years old. From the moment I stepped onto the court, I fell in love with the sport and have been working hard every day to improve.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes. My uncle, Barış Ergüden, is a former Turkish National Team player who competed professionally and earned ATP ranking points. His journey has inspired me to follow my own dreams in tennis.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at TED Sports Club, the Tennis, Fencing and Mountaineering Sports Club, in Istanbul.
What is your coaching team?
My coaches are Yasin Kudu and Kadir Açıkalın.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 6 days a week, 3 hours tennis everyday and 3 hours fitness in one week.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my determination, fighting spirit, and positive attitude on the court. I never give up and always compete until the last point. I am currently working on becoming more aggressive, improving my serve, and developing a stronger all-around game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Girls Under-14 category. My Turkish Girls 2014 ranking is No. 199, and my global ranking is No. 909.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have achieved important victories in national tournaments and have recently started competing in Under-14 events, where I continue to gain valuable experience. Every tournament helps me become a stronger and more confident player.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in Türkiye, and I am excited to play in more international tournaments in the future.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet, but I hope to work with sponsors who believe in young athletes and support my journey.
What is your goal for 2026?
My next goal is to improve my national and international rankings, earn more Tennis Europe points, and compete successfully in more international tournaments.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to compete in Grand Slam tournaments, represent Türkiye at the highest level, and one day become a professional player who inspires young athletes around the world.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
My favorite players are Mirra Andreeva and Zeynep Sönmez. I admire Mirra because of her fearless style of play and her achievements at such a young age. Zeynep inspires me because she has shown that Turkish players can succeed internationally through hard work and determination.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling, listening to music, and staying active.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my family, my coaches, and everyone who has supported me throughout my tennis journey. Their encouragement motivates me to keep working hard and chase my dreams every day.
