๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Arjun Pratap Meena | Interview, June 2026

Introduce yourself: Name, Age, Date of Birth, Nationality, City of Residence
My name is Arjun Pratap Meena. I am 14 years old and I was born on September 28, 2011. I am proud to represent India, and I live and train in the beautiful city of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Hindi and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 10, channelling all my energy and focusing on mastering the game ever since.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the first professional tennis player in my immediate family. However, my journey began because of my maternal uncle, Sanwar Meena. He introduced me to the sport and has been the pillar of my tennis career from day one.
In which tennis club do you train?
I proudly train at Krishna Tennis Club in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
What is your coaching team?
I train under the guidance of my tennis head coach, Dr. Mahendra Yadav, alongside my dedicated fitness trainer, Surya Pratap Meena. They structure my training, on-court strategies, and physical development.
What is your weekly training routine?
My daily routine centers on a strict formula: strength, speed, discipline, and repeat. I start my day early with physical fitness from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. before heading to school. After school, I return to the court from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for technical drills and intensive match simulations. There are absolutely no shortcuts.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my serve, which allows me to dominate points right from the start. To transition smoothly to the international circuit, I am actively working on improving my backhand on high balls and perfecting my serve-and-volley game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Boys U16 and Boys U18 junior categories, and I have also started playing in the menโ€™s circuit. My AITA national rankings are No. 113 in Boys U16, with a career-best of No. 100, No. 225 in Boys U18, with a career-best of No. 214, and No. 440 in menโ€™s doubles, with a career-best of No. 435.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest success so far has been playing back-to-back in three tournament finals, which proved my mental grit, physical endurance, and consistency under pressure. Breaking into the Top 100 in India in Boys U16 was a major milestone, along with jumping from No. 906 into the Top 250 in the competitive U18 circuit. Earning an AITA menโ€™s doubles ranking of No. 440 at just 14 years old is another achievement that shows my adaptability on court.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have actively played competitive tournaments across different states in India under the national tournament framework.
Do you have any sponsors?
Currently, I am looking for corporate sponsors and gear partnerships to support my travel, equipment, and training needs as I prepare to compete on the International Tennis Federation junior circuit.
What is your goal for 2026?
My ultimate target for 2026 is to win the prestigious Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship. Alongside lifting that trophy, my goals are to break into the Top 50 in India in Boys U16, climb the menโ€™s ranking ladder, maintain a strong Universal Tennis Rating, and begin competing in my first ITF Junior World Tennis Tour events.
What is your tennis dream?
My ultimate dream is to graduate to the ATP Tour and compete at the highest level against world champions like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. My goal is to win historic Grand Slams, especially Wimbledon and Roland Garros, proudly represent India at the 2032 Olympic Games, and bring home an Olympic gold medal for my country.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Carlos Alcaraz. I am deeply inspired by his mentality to never give up on any point, his explosive speed, raw physical strength, and his ability to hit unbelievable shots under pressure. I want to bring that same electric energy to my own game.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I am very active and love to play different sports. I also enjoy listening to Punjabi music to get motivated, staying focused on my studies, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I proudly dedicate this interview to my Mamu, Sanwar Meena. He is the reason I picked up a racket, provides me with everything I need to succeed, keeps me grounded, never lets me get discouraged after hard losses, and always pushes me to work harder and win the next one. I also dedicate this to my parents, my coach Dr. Mahendra Yadav, and my fitness trainer Surya Pratap Meena for their continuous support.
