What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Adwita Das Banerjee. I was born on June 26, 2012. I am Indian and I live in London, UK.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Bengali fluently.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was nine years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my nine-year-old sister plays tennis as well.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at Redbridge Sports and Leisure Centre.
Who are your coaches?
My main coach is Matthew Porter, alongside my dad — Saumyabrata Das — who guides and supports me every step of the way. My fitness coach is Subhojit Saha.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
That is top secret! I prefer to keep my strengths and game plans under wraps so my opponents have to figure it out on court.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in the Under-14 category, and my national ranking is UK No. 6.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Winning the U12 Grass Court National Championship was a huge milestone, along with recently reaching the Women’s National Final at Bodwon, UK, and the Tennis Europe Category 1 semifinals at Tim Essonne in 2025. Most recently, claiming the ITF J30 Bradfield doubles title and finishing as the singles finalist have been incredible experiences.

I am sponsored by Yonex for my rackets, strings, and apparel. For footwear, I prefer wearing Asics tennis shoes.

What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to reach World No. 1 on the WTA Tour and win all four Grand Slam majors.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite players are Justine Henin and Ashleigh Barty. I absolutely love their style of play because they blend power, elite court coverage, and phenomenal variety that disrupts an opponent’s rhythm.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
When I am off the court, I love traveling to new places and relaxing with my favorite music playlists.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my family, my coach Matthew Porter, my fitness coach Subhojit Saha, and especially my dad for always being there for me.
