Hi, Iโm Ina Tompkins-Madia. I was born on February 29, 2012, and I am 14 years old. I live in the United States and currently live in Charleston, South Carolina, but I will soon be moving to Bradenton, Florida.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English and a little Spanish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis a little less than two years ago, when I was 12.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, there are no tennis players in my family.
In which tennis club do you train?
I will start training at IMG Academy in August 2026.
What is your coaching team?
My coaching team will be all my coaches at IMG Academy.
What is your weekly training routine?
My weekly training routine includes 5 days of training and tournaments on weekends.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strengths are that I am very coachable and strong. I want to improve by being kinder to myself and developing my mental game.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I am not sure of my national ranking yet. It is a work in progress because my family wants me not to worry too much about the numbers.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My greatest success so far is improving as much as possible in such a short time and winning a Girlsโ 14s L6 singles tournament.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in the United States, but I have practiced in Switzerland.
Do you have any sponsors?
I do not have any sponsors currently, but I hope to have at least one soon.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to be sponsored by Babolat, win an L5 tournament, and go far in an L4 tournament.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to go as far as I can, play Division I college tennis, become a professional player, and win.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Aryna Sabalenka and Serena Williams because they are inspiring, amazing, and powerful. They never gave up on their dreams.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, doing anything active, and shopping.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to any athlete who started their sport later in life but works just as hard as anyone else, if not harder, and still feels behind. Anything is possible.
