What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is George Atherfold. I was born on August 2, 2012. I am British and I live near Manchester.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak English as my first language, and I speak a bit of French.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I first started playing tennis when I was six years old. However, I started taking it seriously around the age of 10.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
My little brother plays tennis competitively, and my dad is a tennis coach.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train and play for teams at Poynton Tennis Club in Cheshire.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are my dad and Brent Parker.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is my forehand crosscourt. Something I need to work on is my second serve.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I compete in 14U and I am ranked No. 300 in the UK.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have won the Cheshire County Championship boys’ doubles in 10U, 12U, and 14U, and I also won the mixed doubles in 14U. I play for men’s teams at my club and have started to volunteer at 7U county training.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in the UK, and I hope to play in a Tennis Europe event by the end of the year.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I use the Head Boom MP 26 tennis racket, Head Hawk strings, Asics Gel tennis shoes, and mainly Nike clothing.
What is your next goal?
My goal is to keep moving forward, improving, and playing more tennis throughout the week.
What is your tennis dream?
My tennis dream is to play college tennis in America and then play in all the Grand Slams, especially Wimbledon.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite tennis player is Rafael Nadal because he stays calm and has never broken a racket.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I like to play golf at my local club.

I would like to dedicate this interview to my mum and dad, who have both supported me in my tennis.
