What is your name, birthdate, nationality, residence?
My name is Adelia Da Costa. I was born in Montpellier in 2008, I live in Paris, and I am of Moroccan and Portuguese descent. I play for France.
What languages ​​do you speak?
I speak French, English, Arabic, and Portuguese.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 10 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, there are no other tennis players in my family. There are many other athletes in my family, but no tennis players.
In which tennis club do you train?
I train at the Ermont Academy.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are Thibault, Seb, and Léo. My fitness coach is Adam.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I would say that my greatest strength is my vision of the game. What I would like to improve is my ability to stay solid when points and rallies become long, so that I can keep fighting and stay consistent until the end.
What is your age category and national ranking?
I am 18 years old and I am in my final year of the Junior category. Starting in December, I will move on to the professional circuit. I am currently ranked No. 20 nationally.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my greatest achievements and one of my proudest moments so far has been having the opportunity to play for the national team in Portugal.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have had the opportunity to play tournaments in several countries, including Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Morocco, Tunisia, France, Germany, Albania, Belgium, and many others.
What equipment brands do you currently use (racket, string, shoes, clothing…), and are you sponsored by any of them?
I play with a Dunlop racket and Wilson shoes. I usually wear Nike clothing. I am currently sponsored by DL, but my contract ends at the end of the year.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is to establish myself on the professional circuit and try to win some major titles.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream in tennis is to win the US Open.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is Serena Williams. For me, she is one of the greatest players of all time. She is also an example of how you can start from nothing and still succeed.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy drawing, taking photos, and eating.
