Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Josefina Soldo. I am 18 years old and I was born on April 14, 2007. I am Uruguayan and I live in Montevideo, Uruguay.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and English, and also a little Portuguese.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old at Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club, where I still train today.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only one in my family who plays tennis.
In which club do you train?
I train at Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Montevideo.
Who are your coaches?
I work with a team that includes tennis coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and also a sports psychologist.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train every day. In the morning, I usually do around one hour of physical training. In the afternoon, I train two hours of tennis and then one more hour of physical preparation. Every two weeks, I also see my sports psychologist, and I follow a diet based on real foods, always trying to keep a good balance to perform at my best.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I think one of my biggest strengths is the good energy I bring to practice and to the court. One thing I continue working on is managing frustration better during matches.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I currently compete in the First Category and I am No.2 in the national ranking.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I have had the opportunity to represent Uruguay in several South American junior championships in the U12, U14, and U16 categories, compete in COSAT and ITF tournaments, and be part of the Uruguayan Billie Jean King Cup team since 2023. I also played the qualifying draw of the Montevideo Open in 2022, which was my first professional tournament. In 2025, I won my first ITF J30 title in Punta del Este.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in much of South America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. I have also competed in Central America, in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Panama.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, at the moment my parents are the ones supporting my career.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to start playing college tennis in the United States, since I have signed with Lynn University in Miami.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become the best tennis player in my country.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Roger Federer and Serena Williams because they are two great icons of tennis and they defined an era in this sport.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I really enjoy playing football, and I would also like to have a successful career in finance in the future.
