Clemence Schneider | Interview, February 2026
Hello, introduce yourself please.Hello, my name is Clemence Schneider. I’m French. I was born in the heart of the Alps, in Grenoble on December 15, 2012. I just turned 13. I live in the Basque Country, in the southwest of France, in Bayonne since 8 years.
What languages do you speak?I obviously speak French, I get by in English and Spanish. And to please my dad, I speak a few words in German.
At what age did you start playing tennis?I started playing around the age of 5.
Are there other tennis players in your family? My mom plays tennis, I learned a little bit from her.
In which club do you train?I train at the Biarritz club: Biarritz Olympique.
Who are your coaches?I have a great team around me: Nicolas Sabas (LNA/FFT), Philippe Pages (club’s sporting director), Guillaume Bichon (physical trainer), Mélanie Maillard (mental coach), once a week I do yoga with Léa Lozada. I also have a fantastic physiotherapist : Emma Carre, and a great doctor for my injuries : Thierry Durantel.
What is your weekly training routine?I usually study in the morning, between 8 and 11 am, doing my schoolwork at home. Then I go to train at the club. On a typical day, I spend about an hour to an hour and a half on physical conditioning and two hours playing tennis. I also try to dedicate time to stretching and relaxing at the end of the day.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve? My strengths are my footwork and my forehand for creating space. I still need to work on my boldness to be more offensive.
What is your age category and your national ranking?I just turned 13 so I play in the U14 category. But I will be participating in my first ITF Juniors this year (for ages 13 to 18). In France today, there are two girls born in 2012 who are ranked higher than me, but that changes every month. Let’s say I’m between third and fifth in France in my age group. In the European rankings I am in 70th place.
What have been your greatest successes so far?I am a multiple regional champion, I won a U14 European tournament in Bosnia and I reached the quarter-finals of the French U12 championships.
In which countries have you played tournaments?I’ve played several times in Spain because I live nearby (Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona…), but also in Bosnia and Greece. During training, and during the holidays, I’ve also played in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. It was great because I love to travel and meet new people.
Do you have any sponsors? For the past three years, I’ve been sponsored by the HEAD brand, which supports and trusts me. I work with Elsa Pellegrinelli. I’m very happy to be part of the HEAD team. Elsa is a longtime friend of my parents (my mom played tennis with her). We have a great relationship. Tennis is, however, a very expensive sport, so I’m taking advantage of this media opportunity because I’m always looking for partners or sponsors: https://www.soutienstonsportif.fr/project/dossier-candidature-clemence-schneider
What is your goal for 2026?To do my best at the French Championships in June at Roland Garros. To try and win another European tournament. And above all, to progress and improve my level of play.
What is your tennis dream? If we’re going to dream, let’s dream big: win a Grand Slam! One goal: to reach the level required to break into the top 100 and make a living from tennis.
Who are your favorite tennis players?Carlos Alcaraz for the boys. For the girls, I love the Italian Jasmine Paolini and the Americans, the experienced Coco Gauff and the rising star Iva Jovic.
What do you enjoy outside of tennis?I love to travel, and more simply to walk with my dog, hiking in the mountains or along the seaside.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?To my parents, more generally my family and those who support me and believe in me.
Clemence, thank you for the interview 🙌
Tennis Papers wishes you all the best in your tennis journey 💜🩷
